Кабосу — это настоящая собака породы сиба-ину, мем про которую стал символом Dogecoin (DOGE). В 2010 году хозяйка щенка Ацуко Сато сфотографировала Кабосу для своего блога. Фото стало вирусным после того как оно появилось с названием «doge» на платформе Reddit. Впоследствии это послужило толчком к созданию Dogecoin в 2013 году.

NFT-сообщество Own the Doge и проект PleasrDAO, который приобрел права на изображение мема DOGE за $4 млн в 2021 году, решили установить памятник на площади Фурусато города Сакуры, рядом с тем местом, где Сато часто гуляет с собакой.
Деньги на памятник были собраны фанатами DOGE еще в 2022 году. Однажды они хотят установить такую статую даже на Луне. Один из членов PleasrDAO под псевдонимом tridog рассказал изданию, что уже более двух лет они занимаются тем, что «доставляют DOGE туда, где она никогда не была, включая Голливуд и космос» — NFT в честь Dogecoin отправляется в полет на Луну по программе SpaceX.
В честь установки памятника сообщество также планирует провести интерактивные мероприятия. Участники смогут встретиться с хозяйкой Кабосу, а также получить различные бонусы в зависимости от наличия у них NFT.
В апреле стало известно, что Own the Doge и проект PleasrDAO сняли «догументальный» фильм про мемную криптовалюту. Поклонники DOGE создали и профинансировали полнометражный фильм, рассказывающий о превращении брошенного щенка сиба-ину в символ Dogecoin.
